Sportsmanship Shown As India Beats Sri Lanka In First ODI
The first ODI between India and Sri Lanka wrapped up this morning with controversy on the field with fast bowler Mohammed Shami Mankading Sri Lankan Captain Dasun Shanaka. There isn't a more controversial law in cricket, and is one that divides the cricketing world. Mankading is a frowned upon cricket rule where you can run the non-striker out just for not being in his crease when the bowler is running in. We saw the Mankad attempt near the end of Sri Lanka's innings with Shanaka only 2 runs away from reaching his century. Shami appealed to the umpire but was quickly shut down by his own skipper, Rohit Sharma. "We cannot get him out like that." said Sharma in a press conference after the game. Dasun Shanaka went on to make his 100 but it couldn't help his team to the win as India steamrolled the visitors by 67 runs. Former Sri Lankan cricketer Sanath Jayasuri took to Twitter to comment on Rohit Sharma's call saying, "The real winner was the sportsmanship
