Sportsmanship Shown As India Beats Sri Lanka In First ODI

The first ODI between India and Sri Lanka wrapped up this morning with controversy on the field with fast bowler Mohammed Shami Mankading Sri Lankan Captain Dasun Shanaka. There isn't a more controversial law in cricket, and is one that divides the cricketing world. Mankading is a frowned upon cricket rule where you can run the non-striker out just for not being in his crease when the bowler is running in. We saw the Mankad attempt near the end of Sri Lanka's innings with Shanaka only 2 runs away from reaching his century. Shami appealed to the umpire but was quickly shut down by his own skipper, Rohit Sharma. "We cannot get him out like that." said Sharma in a press conference after the game. Dasun Shanaka went on to make his 100 but it couldn't help his team to the win as India steamrolled the visitors by 67 runs. The Wildest BBL Melbourne Derby Yet As a whole, BBL12 hasn't quite lived up to previous Big Bash seasons whether it be a slump in crowds or a decline in action, BBL as a whole has been on a downfall. Last night at the MCG between cross town rivals Melbourne Stars and Melbourne Renegades may have just lit a spark in the BBL whilst splitting Melbourne and the cricket world in two. The Stars won the toss and elected to bat in a must win match in front of their home crowd. They had the Renegades up against the wall early with English fast bowler Luke Wood sending an out of form Sam Harper back to the sheds on his first ball.  The Stars had their tails up with the Renegades already feeling the Heat it was time for the experience of kiwi import Martin Guptill to dig deep and find some runs. In Friday night’s Semi-final win over Melbourne, Brisbane star midfielder Jarrod Berry got caught up in a bit of push and shove with Dee’s Premiership player Clayton Oliver in which Jarrod seemed to dig his fingers into Oliver’s eye.  He got a week suspension from the on field umpire but will be heading to the tribunal Tuesday night to try and get that overturned before the Lions take on Geelong in a Preliminary final on Friday at the MCG to send them into the Grannie.
