Brisbane vs Richmond Preview

It’s here. The 2022 AFL finals are here. 18 teams down to 8 and after this weekend there will only be 6 teams trying to prove themselves as this year's Premiers. Let's dive into the action that will take place tonight and what we could expect.

Tonight, we have the recently successful Tigers taking on the success hungry Lions who are coming off a big loss to Melbourne 2 weeks ago at their home fortress. Brisbane went into this season with many saying they would go all the way and so did I. But their season has been an ugly one and suddenly find themselves likely to not progress further than week one of the finals.

Both teams haven’t lived up to their full potential this season and we’ll soon find out who really wants to prove everyone and themselves that they really do want to win the flag and are the real deal.

Richmond should go into this game favourites. Not heavy favourites but comfortable favourites. It doesn’t get any better for Chris Fagan either with Cam Rayner, Noah Answerth and Jarryd Lions out of the side. 3 big names that will make a difficult task in defeating Richmond just that more difficult.

Fagan is backing Brisbane “happy go lucky” young gun Darcy Wilmot to make his AFL debut tonight. Only the 34th player to debut in a VFL/AFL final.

None other than Dustin Martin is back on the list for Richmond which doesn’t help Brisbane in the slightest after coming back from a week of media attention and months on the sideline with hamstring issues. Granted, he hasn’t had a good day or two in the media and has been off the field for a little while so I don’t think he’ll be best on ground but will still be a big help for the Tigers.

History will also play a big part in this game with the Tigers winning the last 17 out of 19 games against Brisbane and 8 out of the last 10 finals.

It isn’t all sunshine and rainbows for Richmond as they’re main goal kicker, Tom Lynch injured himself 2 weeks ago and won’t be at his full potential.
